You have different options here. First is a local search in websites or newpapers offering classifieds. Second is "mouth-to-mouth", which btw. is the best.
But what do you do to meet people with the right contacts?
One option is to join the Student Unio at your local university and in Edinburgh: the Edinburgh University Students' Association.
